Notification has been published for the selection for the post of Security Assistant/Executive in the Intelligence Bureau. Those who have passed 10th class can apply. There are currently 4987 vacancies in 37 subsidiary intelligence bureaus in various centers of the country. Out of these, 334 vacancies are in the Thiruvananthapuram Bureau.
Salary: Rs. 21,700-69,100. In addition, other allowances.
Educational Qualification: 10th class pass/equivalent. Must have a certificate proving that he is a resident of the state in which he is applying (Domicile Certificate).
The candidate must know the regional language of the state in which the bureau is being applied for (Malayalam for those applying to Thiruvananthapuram). Those with field experience in intelligence work will be given priority. Persons with disabilities are not eligible to apply.
Since this is an all-India selection, candidates must be willing to work anywhere in the country
Age: 18-27 years as on August 17, 2025. There is a relaxation of five years for SC and ST candidates and three years for OBC candidates in the upper age limit. There is a relaxation of five years for sportspersons. Widows and divorced persons who are not remarried can apply up to 35 years (OBC-38, SC, ST-40). Ex-servicemen will also get relaxation as per law.
Fee: The fee is Rs. 550 for women, SC, ST candidates and ex-servicemen and Rs. 650 for other categories. The fee can be paid online or through SBI challan.
Selection: The selection will be conducted in two stages, namely, an examination followed by a face-to-face interview. The first phase of the exam will be an online objective type exam and the second phase will be a descriptive written exam. The duration of both the phases will be one hour.
For more information on the topics, marks and time of the exam, please refer to the attached table. In the first phase of the exam, one-fourth negative marks will be given for an incorrect answer. The cut-off marks for the first phase of the exam will be General/EWS-30, OBC-28, SC, ST-25. Ten times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the second phase of the exam.
Exam Centers: Candidates can choose up to five exam centers. They cannot be changed later.
